Abstract

A mathematical model was used to study the effect of both water temperature and side slope on sand bed channel geometry and longitudinal slope. The study has revealed no responses occurred for both mean width and water depth due to the change in water temperature over 0OC for canal having median particle size ≤ 0.5 mm. For canals having dso ≥ 0.6 mm, moan width decreased and water depth increased especially from Octo about 20 OC, Bed slopes decreased regularly with the increasing value of water temperature. Statistical analysis was used to fit this variation. Both mean width and water depth decreased and bed slope increased with the increase of the channel side slope.
