Abstract

This paper presents a new numerical approach for computing flow and convective heat transfer of turbulent boundary layers. Turbulent flow is calculated using a nonlinear K-ɛ model (Proposed by Speziale, 1987). The closure of the energy equation is presented at the two-equation level of turbulence modeling (proposed by Nagano and Kim, 1988). The results concentrate on the time-mean quantities such as skin friction coefficient (Cr) and Stanton-number (St). It is shown that turbulent boundary layer characteristics can be found using fully developed duct flow having a cross-section of a large aspect ratio.
