The Design process of tourist places in Saudi Arabia is not so adequate to maximize their potential use, for both people and the wider environment. Many planned and designed outdoor areas were inadequately designed to satisfy local user needs, because of that many social and environmental problems have resulted from such unsystematic or unscientific planning and design, which were not carried out by professional environmental designers or landscape architects, Over the past seven decades, landscape design process of green urban open spaces and tourist areas have developed rapidly in many countries, while in some, the process can be considered as stand still. Deterioration of many natural environments, as well as, the waste of vulnerable outdoor-urban open spaces, may cause massive destruction to the Saudi environment. This research will highlight the main useful design guidelines to shape people tourist urban open spaces. One possible solution to the problem of the existing of design tourist urban open spaces is to look for more advanced design guidelines for tourist places or areas that shape functionally people places. This could be achieved through undertaking a comprehensive investigation, of the existing methods of shaping tourist Places of some advanced nations, and then extracting the best guidelines and criteria of designing tourist places in Saudi cities. The conclusion of this research is that something should be done to reduce the vast deterioration of valuable green urban open spaces. The need to formulate some design guidelines, or recommendations, for shaping the tourist places in a systematic manner and accurate design, which will create beautiful tourist areas in the surrounding of human habitation, and promote health and comfort to the society.
