Abstract

Experiments were performed on natural convection heat transfer from vibrated vertical flat plate heated under constant heat flux. The working fluid used is air. The effects of modified Rayleigh number, (107≤Ra*≤1010), the vibration frequency (0≤F≤25), and the amplitude (0≤A≤7.6 mm), vibrational Reynolds number of 102≤Rev≤8*104, were studied. Over the tested range of modified Rayleigh number, it is found that the vibrated plate generally shows higher heat transfer coefficients than that of the stationary one for all values of amplitude, and frequency. It is also concluded that the heat transfer is strongly affected by the vibration frequency while it is weakly affected by the vibration amplitude. The Nusselt number has been correlated in a dimensionless form as a function of modified Raylegh number, and Vibrational Reynolds number.
