Abstract

Improving energy efficiency and sustainability in buildings is essential for maintaining good environmental quality. Renewable energy use has become imperative as a result of shortage and disadvantages of traditional energy sources. Although the world has taken measures to develop renewable energy, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions is continuously increasing. This may be related with a low level of elaboration of the ongoing policies, with obstacles to the renewable energy market growth. The energy sector in Egypt is overwhelmed with the local energy demands. Considering Egypt’s signature on the Kyoto protocol and hosting COP27 as it acknowledges the significance of confronting climate change, the country ought to focus on utilizing renewable energy technologies in order to fulfill the rising need for energy .To confront these challenges, Egypt’s energy strategy should prioritize renewable energy (RE) technologies. Egypt has varied renewable resources that have not yet been fully utilized for the generation of sustainable energy. Given these facts, the study’s objective is analyzing and comparing renewable energy use and policies in Egypt with those adopted in the leading countries in RE , in order to identify possible solutions to promote RE utilization
