The Hayah Karima initiative launches to improve the standard of living for the most needy community groups across the Egyptian countryside, and it also contributes to improving the quality of services provided to the neediest villages. The research aims to propose a guiding framework for sustainability in villages of the Hayah Karima Initiative to achieve Egypt’s Sustainable Vision 2030. To achieve the goal, the research will study the goals, strategies, and principles of the Hayah Karima Initiative, the Egypt Vision 2030, COP 27, the sustainability evaluation criteria, and the Green Villages Initiative. Consequentially, in addition to A questionnaire to measure architects’ opinions on achieving sustainability through the Decent Life Initiative. This paper develops guiding framework that must be present in Hayah Karima projects in order for them to become sustainable initiatives. The application of those standards to the villages of Egypt (Faris Village in Aswan, the Sedes al Omraa Village in Beni Suef, and the village of al Nazla in Fayoum). The study concluded that the initiative achieves the principles of sustainability by 48%, and to raise this percentage, the proposed research methodology must be applied. The study revealed that there are some obstacles facing these projects in implementation, such as the use of fixed designs that neglect the urban character of the Egyptian countryside, as well as the climatic treatments specific to each climate region. Fares Village in Aswan is a successful example of applying sustainability principles within the Hayah Karima initiative, which achieves 60% but lacks some sustainability standards. Therefore, the proposed methodology must be applied to all Hayah Karima projects. Consequence of the questionnaire that most of the study sample did not have a vision of the role of sustainability in the Egyptian rural development initiative.
