Abstract

Mechanical performance of banana fiber-reinforced polyester composites maximized using a composite Taguchi and a Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) process. This will aim at enhancing dispensation limits to enhance better tensile, flexural and impact belongings. The hand lay-up method was used to create composites by variable three key limits and they included banana fiber content (30 wt%), copper nanoparticle content (15 wt%), and curing temperature (80 o C). Trial design and mechanical properties were being measured in form of ASTM values on a L9 orthogonal array.

The multi-response optimization was performed with the help of the Grey Relational Analysis, which was used to control the optimum limit mix. It has been found that the optimum conditions are 30 wt% banana fiber, 3 wt% copper nanoparticles and curing temperature of 80o C. Some of the main areas of improvement in mechanical performance in this case were of experimental nature as the tensile strength was increased by 17.14%, flexural strength by 96.75% and impact strength by 16.17% when compared to the initial limits surroundings.

The analysis of variance (ANOVA) determined that the most significant significant limit is the curing temperature making a contributory contribution of 46.42 to the total presentation and then follow the banana fiber content and copper nanoparticle content. This improvement in performance has been explained by high quality interfacial bonding, a low content of voids and increased stress transfer in the composite climate. The results are made that the projected mixture composite system and optimization method provides an actual route to advanced high-performance, maintenance-sufficient resources.
